Metaverse Introduction

Metaverse is one of the hottest topics of 2022 that every tech enthusiast has been talking about. The technology has given real folks a platform to create their replica and interact with the virtual world to experience services much more advanced. Metaverse was initially introduced in the form of a term by Neal Stephenson in 1992. In 2022, it can use Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality technology to offer users an experience that looks like a plot followed by a sci-fi saga.

Taking the above Metaverse statistics by Statista in reference lets us know that 74% of adults are interested in onboarding this virtual world in the US market. From experiencing things that are impossible to experience in real life to escaping their realities, Metaverse holds an exceptional value for each user that wants to sign up for the space.

Now, if you are not much familiar with this popular technology, you might have gained some curiosity by now. So, let us not make you wait anymore and dive right into the discussion of understanding what Metaverse is and how it will impact the user experience.

Characteristics of Metaverse

To understand this one of the hottest augmented reality trends, it is crucial to look at its characteristics. Let’s discuss them first.

Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual reality (VR)

Metaverse is a concept entirely dependent on Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies on a considerable scale. AR and VR pair up to give users an interactive experience with the platform. To play games, hang out with people virtually, shopping, and more, VR and AR are the bridge between users and business owners to make this possible. With the help of VR, Metaverse can offer a digital representation and objects that allow interaction between users and objects but in a more realistic way. Even without moving from the couch, users can wear VR glasses and shop or play games as if they were doing these activities in the real world. The AR part of Metaverse uses digital elements to project them into the natural environment through the smart device screen. Almost all of these objects that you will witness through AR and VR devices are computer generated and placed in Metaverse by different creators.

Blockchain and Crypto

Metaverse is a decentralized technology that uses blockchain to offer a more secured and encrypted environment for user privacy. This technology characteristic also promotes the idea of normalizing cryptos to purchase services or products. Blockchain also helps in normalizing Non-fungible Tokens (NFTs) on the platform. Users can securely sell their content to collectors on Metaverse without losing their proof of ownership. Some companies also sell virtual lands to other players or businesses where owners can build their virtual real estate to open a store or convert it into a hangout spot. Blockchain gives owners the ability to permanently own their lands unless they plan to sell them further.

Artificial intelligence (AI)

AI is one of the crucial parts of Metaverse. The technology makes Metaverse more efficient, from ensuring enhanced cybersecurity by continuously monitoring servers to keeping an eye on hardware. By using characteristics such as augmented data analytics and predictive analytics, AI is also used to offer innovative interactions by providing necessary signals to technologies such as Haptic gloves. Haptic gloves are used on Metaverse to experience sensations and interactions every time users interact with a virtual object.

However, the full potential of Haptic gloves is still not unlocked. AI is also helping in putting lives into Non-playable characters (NPCs) to offer a much brighter virtual experience. Players can explore Metaverse and do activities such as play games with the help of AI even without having to pair up with another real player. AI also solves many other problems such as translating languages, enhanced responsiveness on voice commands, etc.

Internet of Things (IoT)

The last technology that we want to discuss as the essential characteristic of Metaverse is IoT. As you might already know, the Internet of Things(IoT) is a web of multiple devices connected to transfer data between each other. This data is used to control connected devices remotely. From smart appliances to security systems, IoT is today existing everywhere. Just like that, Metaverse has also adopted IoT to connect technologies such as VR glasses, AR devices, and more. These IoT devices come together to help users experience the virtual world to a vast potential. However, these devices will get more competent and offer a better quality of services with time.

Wrapping up

These were the four characteristics that we thought of sharing with you to help you understand how Metaverse works. As Metaverse is a new technology, its potential is still being explored. Companies and tech experts worldwide are finding ways to use Metaverse features to make the world more technologically advanced. In this evolving phase, you and we might witness new inventions coming into existence. Thus, brace yourself and keep up with Metaverse’s changes soon.
