Chinese AI startup Zhipu AI launched AutoGLM Rumination, a free AI agent for research, web searches, tour planning, and report writing

Chinese artificial intelligence startup Zhipu AI revealed a free on Monday, joining a wave of similar launches in China’s more and more competitive AI market.

The product, called AutoGLM Rumination , can carry out deep studies in addition to obligations which includes web searches, travel planning, and research report writing, CEO Zhang Peng stated at a lunch event in Beijing.

The agent is powered via Zhipu’s proprietary models, which includes its reasoning version GLM-Z1-Air and basis model GLM-four-Air-0414. The enterprise claims GLM-Z1-Air matches rival DeepSeek ‘s R1 in overall performance even as running up to eight times faster and needs only one-thirtieth of the computing assets.

AI agents are systems intended to make decisions and enforce quite a range of tasks autonomously. The launch follows a surge in Chinese AI product launch after DeepSeek shook the industry previously this year with a model that it stated operated at substantially lower expenses than U.S. rivals.

It also comes weeks after competitor Manus sparked interest with what it advertised as the world’s first general AI agent.

While Manus costs users as much as $199 monthly, Zhipu’s AutoGLM Rumination might be available free from charge through the enterprise’s authorized channels, inclusive of its GLM model website and mobile app.

Zhipu AI, founded in 2019 as a by-product from a Tsinghua University laboratory, has appeared as one among China’s leading AI startups.

The enterprise, which evolved the GLM series of models, claims its latest large language model GLM4 outperforms OpenAI’s GPT-4 on numerous benchmarks.

The startup made headlines in advance this month after securing 3 consecutive rounds of government-sponsored investment in a single month. The most recent funding got here from the town of Chengdu, which injected 300 million yuan ($41.5 million) into the enterprise.
